# Core concepts

> Understand the key concepts and terminology in Leap Change

## Programs

A **program** is a collection of related initiatives. Use programs to organize multiple change projects that share common goals or affect similar parts of your organization.

**Example**: A "Digital transformation" program might contain initiatives for implementing a new CRM, modernizing internal tools, and migrating to cloud infrastructure.

## Initiatives (Projects)

An **initiative** (also called a project) represents a specific change effort. Each initiative has:

* A defined scope and objectives
* Associated stakeholders
* Change impacts to manage
* Communication activities

## Stakeholders

**Stakeholders** are individuals or groups affected by or involved in a change. Leap Change tracks:

| Attribute                 | Description                                          |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------- |
| Influence | How much power they have over the change's success |
| Support | Their current stance (supporter, neutral, resistant) |
| Interest | How much they care about the change |
| Communication preferences | How they prefer to receive information |

### Power-interest grid

The power-interest grid categorizes stakeholders into four quadrants:

* **High power, high interest**: Manage closely
* **High power, low interest**: Keep satisfied
* **Low power, high interest**: Keep informed
* **Low power, low interest**: Monitor

## Change impacts

A **change impact** describes a specific effect the change will have on people, processes, or technology.

### Impact categories

* **People**: Changes to roles, skills, or behaviors
* **Process**: Changes to workflows or procedures
* **Technology**: Changes to systems or tools
* **Organization**: Changes to structure or reporting lines

### Impact severity

* **Critical**: Major disruption, requires immediate attention
* **High**: Significant impact, needs careful management
* **Medium**: Moderate impact, standard change management
* **Low**: Minor impact, minimal intervention needed

### Impact status

* **Backlog**: Identified but not yet being addressed
* **Todo**: Scheduled to be addressed
* **In progress**: Currently being managed
* **In review**: Being evaluated
* **Done**: Successfully addressed
* **Canceled**: No longer relevant

## Communications

A **communication plan** outlines how you'll engage stakeholders throughout the change.

### Communication activities

Individual communication actions within a plan:

* Target audience (which stakeholders)
* Message content
* Delivery channel (email, meeting, announcement)
* Schedule and status

## Surveys

**Surveys** collect feedback from stakeholders. Leap Change supports:

* **Single-question surveys**: Quick pulse checks
* **Comprehensive surveys**: Multi-section assessments

Surveys can be distributed via unique links or email invitations, with anonymous response options.

## AI assistant

The **AI assistant** (also called AskLeap) provides intelligent support for:

* Analyzing change impacts
* Identifying risks
* Suggesting communication strategies
* Answering questions about your change data

## Organizations and teams

Leap Change uses a multi-tenant architecture:

* **Organization**: Your company or team workspace
* **Members**: Users with access to the organization
* **Roles**: Admin or member permissions

Admins can manage team members, billing, and organization settings.
